Understanding the Condition

What is Thin Lips?

Thin lips — whether genetic or the result of age-related volume loss — can make the face appear less balanced and the mouth less defined. At The Shiny Touch, lip filler is one of the most popular and transformative treatments Paula offers. The key is achieving a result that looks naturally beautiful — enhancing your lips to be a more harmonious version of themselves, never overdone or artificial. Paula uses premium hyaluronic acid filler with exceptional precision to add volume, define the vermillion border, lift the cupid's bow, and improve overall lip proportion according to your facial features and personal aesthetic goals.

Common Causes

Thin lips can be entirely genetic — some people are simply born with naturally thin lips. With age, lip volume depletes progressively as the hyaluronic acid and collagen in the lip tissue diminish. The lip border (vermillion border) also becomes less defined, and the Cupid's bow can flatten. Vertical lip lines (smoker's lines) appear as the lip skin loses elasticity and collagen. Sun exposure, smoking, and repeated lip movements all contribute to earlier onset lip ageing.

Questions & Answers

Frequently Asked Questions

Will lip filler look natural?

Yes — natural results are entirely achievable with the right technique and the right amount of product. Paula always starts conservatively and builds volume gradually, respecting the natural proportions of your lips and face. The aim is for your lips to look enhanced but still authentically yours — never "duck lips" or overfilled.

How much filler is needed for a natural result?

This depends on your current lip volume and your goals. Many clients achieve their desired result with as little as 0.5–1ml of filler. Paula always starts with a conservative approach — it is easy to add more at a follow-up appointment, but important not to add too much initially.

Is lip filler painful?

Numbing cream is applied for 20 minutes before treatment, and the filler itself contains lidocaine (a local anaesthetic). Most clients describe the sensation as minimal pressure rather than sharp pain. The lips are sensitive, but the numbing protocol makes the procedure very tolerable.

How long does lip filler last and can it be dissolved?

Lip filler typically lasts 6–12 months, as the lips are a highly mobile area and the filler metabolises faster than in less active areas. It is fully reversible with hyaluronidase enzyme if you are unhappy with the result or simply want to return to your natural lips.
